We invite you to join more than 350 volunteers who give their time and expertise.

  • WHO CAN VOLUNTEER? Individuals, families, civic/social groups, clubs, organizations, churches.

The Physical Grounds

Our community volunteers:

  • Help maintain our beautiful grounds
  • Build, repair, paint, and stain things
  • Mow the property
  • Give tours

Location: throughout the Arboretum’s grounds

The Gardens Gift Shop

Volunteer responsibilities:

  • Commit to a 4-hour shift once a week or twice a month
  • Greet and chat with our guests
  • Operate the cash register
  • Keep the Visitor Center looking nice

Location: Visitor Center (Heinemann Building)

The Administrative Offices

Volunteer responsibilities:

  • Commit to a 4-hour shift once a week (9a-1p OR 1p-5p)
  • Answer the phone
  • Greet (and help) guests in the office
  • Process mail
  • Book events and tours
