Walking + Hiking + Biking

We encourage all manner of foot traffic throughout our grounds. Whether it’s strolling, walking, hiking, or snowshoeing, you’ll find beautiful surroundings wherever -- and whenever -- you decide to explore.

What types of paths will you encounter? Gravel, dirt, woodchip, ADA-accessible walkways, and grass.

We're also part of Dubuque Bike ROUTES. [See the interactive map below.]

Our grounds are open daily (7a-dusk). No admission fee.

Legacy Tree Trail

StoryWalk 2024. Follow the path. Read the story.

StoryWalk, a partnership of Carnegie-Stout Public Library and the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Garden, is an outdoor reading experience that displays pages of a children's book along our Legacy Tree Trail. It combines the joy of reading with all the benefits of being active outside! Enjoy a new story every month: March through November.

We're grateful to the Morning Optimist Club of Dubuque for sponsoring nine months of great storybooks. Thank you!
