Walking + Hiking + Biking

We encourage all manner of foot traffic throughout our grounds. Whether it’s strolling, walking, hiking, or snowshoeing, you’ll find beautiful surroundings wherever — and whenever — you decide to explore.

We're also part of Dubuque Bike ROUTES. [See the interactive map below.]

Our grounds are open daily (7a-dusk). No admission fee.

Walking Bridge. [Click for details.]

WALKING BRIDGE. Constructed by Tanner Berns and Troop 17, Tanner chose this walking bridge as his Eagle Scout Project. It connects our walking trails across a water ravine in our wooded area and makes Hickory Hill and Walnut Ridge accessible even when it rains.

Constructed to meet all federal standards (including a hand rail and kick plate), two donated telephone poles are the underpinnings for the bridge. All other materials for the project were purchased and given to the Arboretum.
