In this area are more than 900 kinds of hostas, some very unusual, and exotic. It is one of the nation’s largest public hosta displays. Some people think hostas flourish in the shade, but they actually prefer filtered light. One group of children counted 23 different shades of green in our hostas. Some of the varieties you see here are more than 35 years old and have never been thinned.
