Plant a Legacy:
Give a Lasting Gift to the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens
You can make a meaningful gift to the DABG by including us in your will or trust — whether as a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or another type of provision. Your generosity may also provide valuable tax benefits for your estate. If you’d like your gift to support a specific DABG program or area, please let us know so we can ensure your wishes are honored.
With a charitable gift annuity, you can support the DABG while receiving income for life. Here's how it works:
A charitable lead trust allows you to support the DABG today while planning for your family’s future.
A charitable remainder trust allows you to make a meaningful gift while receiving income.
The Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens is supported by an endowment fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. These funds are invested and pay out 5% annually to provide ongoing support of our mission for years to come. To support our endowment,
The DABG may accept donated items that support our plant collections, assist with daily operations, or help reduce costs. If accepted, these in-kind gifts may be eligible for a charitable tax deduction. Please contact us to discuss items you may wish to contribute.
If you have a fully paid life insurance policy you no longer need, consider naming the DABG as a beneficiary of all or a percentage of it.
Donating a home or other real property can be a meaningful way to support the DABG — and may offer valuable benefits depending on your situation.
Savings bonds can be heavily taxed if passed on to individuals — but when left to a charity like the DABG, they may carry fewer tax consequences. If you're planning to include a charitable bequest in your estate, consider using savings bonds to fund that gift. It’s a smart way to maximize your impact while minimizing taxes.
To leave the DABG as the beneficiary of your stock, complete a beneficiary designation form through your brokerage, specifying the stock and number of shares. Identify the DABG as the recipient and consult a financial advisor to ensure proper handling.
