“This place is a quiet, peaceful, beautiful place
kept up by volunteers in the area
who appreciate the wonder of plant life.
Great place for a wedding…”
[ Peaceful | April 2013 ]
“These gardens are gorgeous!
The attention to detail and design are everywhere! Every specimen is labeled.
There is an English Garden, a rose garden, herb garden, hosta garden,
Japanese garden and the list goes on.
The Japanese Garden surpasses the one in San Francisco!
This is all the result of volunteers (over 21,000 hours last year)
and there is no admission fee.
This is for all ages: There is a section with Peter Rabbit in the garden
and The Billy Goats Gruff crossing a bridge, and a playground,
all immaculate and beautifully maintained!”

“The arboretum is outstanding year round.
Each season has its own distinction
within these beautiful grounds.
Trees of all kinds and beautiful flowers
make for a wonderful stroll.
The Japanese Garden is also a favorite.”
[ Magnificent! | April 2013 ]
“The gardens here are amazing.
This is a free experience, and one you won’t want to miss.
Go in the afternoon and take a picnic lunch.
Allow an hour to walk the gardens.
The Japanese Garden with waterfalls and a fish pond is exquisite.
The Hosta Garden is huge, and an English garden is being expanded.
Get a schedule of the free Sunday summer concerts.
Be there by 5:30 to get a good seat as there are often
500-1000 people with their lawn chairs and snacks,
ready to enjoy the SHOWS. No food available, bring your own.”

“If you like nature and outdoors or just strolling through formal gardens
and walking trails this is the place for you.
This all volunteer free attraction (donations are graciously accepted)
arboretum and botanical garden may very well be Dubuque’s best kept secret.
You can see a lot in an hour or spend the better part of a day exploring the lush grounds.
Our only regret was we did not have more time to explore.”
This property is a true gem.”
